    25 Random Things

I'm repurposing! Did it for Facebook, and I might as well put it here. Otherwise, blogs wilt and die, I'm told.

    1. I grew up in Brunswick, Maine, and I never really thought I fit in there. yet as a possible result, I never really thought I fit in anywhere else I've lived. Still, the older I get, the more I can come to appreciate the atmosphere where I grew up.

    2. I taught myself to play guitar when I was 18 years old. I've done short stints with bands, but it is my great regret that none of them really stuck.

    3. I played live at the Whiskey on the Sunset strip once, but it was on bass, and I look just a bit small behind a bass guitar.

    4. I talk about comic books for a living, and have done so for the last year. It's the most satisfying thing I've ever accomplished professionally. The hours and the pay suck, yet it's hard to complain about.

    5. I love dark, rich, fudgy chocolate cake above almost all over food.

    6. My wedding day was the best day of my life. 100% seriously.

    7. When I was in Los Angeles, I wrote a feature length screenplay, and 3 TV spec scripts. My King of the Hill script was entered in a contest, and was a quarter finalist. It was basically a first draft, and I didn't really know where to go from there, because I suck at networking, and didn't know anyone.

    8. I have a one year old french bulldog named George Clooney. He might be the best dog ever. But on day 3, I was ready to send him back where he came from. I'm very glad I didn't.

    9. I was born on 2/27/77, and was alive before Elvis Died, and before Star Wars was released.

    10. I never really met people who shared my common interests until I was 19-20. Turns out, I didn't care about sports after all.

    11. Excepting my wife, I'm in business with my best friends. We somehow make it work most of the time, and we might argue, but whenever we get together, it's nothing but fun. It's really amazing.

    12. I'm writing a comic book project about a gay cowboy. My utmost personal goal is to have it published this year. Thanks to iFanboy, I've met a lot of people in the industry, so the only thing stopping me is my own talent and/or ambition. No pressure.

    13. I have met Stan Lee, Weird Al, and Mr. T. I've also met lots of other celebrities, but they are the only ones that come to mind when I try to remember.

    14. The only organized sports I was ever involved with was one year of JV basketball in 10th grade. I got there not because I was talented, but because I really wanted to prove myself, and then the dumbass coach never let me play, so I never got better, and I quit after the season.

    15. When I was 12, I was a skater. The guy who was my best friend back then is now a professional skater. Wacky. I never could sort out a kickflip.

    16. I have an unknown quantity of half siblings. I grew up with one, who is 8 years younger than me, and we look nothing like each other. I'd say he's awesome, but he'd tell you that before I got a chance. I'm sure of at least one brother and sister, both of whom I met much later in life.

    17. My father has never been part of my life. Thankfully, my mom more than made up for it.

    18. When I think about leaving California a few years ago, I think of the food first, but I also had a lot more friends there than I do here.

    19. I am an introvert. I hate meeting new people. But I seem extroverted, because when I don't know what to say, I just talk. A LOT.

    20. I got drunk once in college. It was September 26, 1995. People always ask me why I don't drink, and I don't actually have a real answer for that, but if I did, is it really OK for you to ask?

    21. I have owned 4 Volkswagen hatchbacks. Now we have a Subaru.

    22. I'm incredibly impatient creatively. I write very fast and in chunks, and I can't wait to be done with it. It makes me sloppy, but I've never been able to do it any other way.

    23. I am so annoying to watch TV or a movie with. I constantly analyze story and characters, and a lot of the time, I will tell you what's going to happen before it does. People hate this. And I really have no actual expertise.

    24. Being a minor personality on the internet is a weird thing. It means you have to hold back a lot of your more instant reactions to people. Oddly, this makes you a more patient, and better person. It goes right back to "if you can't say something nice..."

    25. I wrote this list in my head a hundred times over the last month, and none of what I just wrote now is familiar. Except the thing about the wedding.

Great list. I'm a bit concerned though that I'm essentially you living in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as we pretty much seem to have had very similar lives and share similar personalities.

My wedding day was also, hands down, my favourite day ever. I don't drink. I'm creative in fits and starts (musically, I'm a singer in a band), I'm an introvert socially but on stage I'm incredibly chatty.

Oh, and I'm very taken with comics too. Naturally.

    That was cool.

When I pictured it in my head it felt similar to Doc Manhattan's chapter in Watchmen.
